The Alliance – A Support Network for Nursing Homes met today with Officials from Department of Health – Ireland to discuss service charges within the nursing home sector.
We are delighted to work with the department to collate data in relation to this for the benefit of all our residents and stakeholders within the industry.
We look forward to collaborating again in the near future.

The Alliance Support Network for Nursing Homes attended Department of Health – Ireland today for a round the table discussion with Minister for Older Persons Mary Butler TD, Department of Health Officials and NHI.
The message was clear from representative bodies – We need an immediate stabilisation fund for the nursing home sector for all the residents under our care.
More round table meetings like this need to occur for the benefit of all stakeholders. Connections will be built and future partnerships established.

The Alliance – A Support Network for Nursing Homes attended Leinster House today to attend a motion brought by Sinn Féin on Nursing Homes.
I was delighted to be able speak at a demonstration beforehand outside Leinster House and to attend the debate in the Dail Gallery.
Our Alliance would like to thank all the TD’s and their staff from Sinn Fèin who worked tirelessly on this and resulted in the motion being passed.

We discussed the changes in legislation required that governs how the NTPF negotiates with private nursing homes to bring stability to a sector now in crisis.
A cost of care model needs to be put in place for all residents in all Nursing Homes.

The Alliance – A Support Network for Nursing Homes presented to TD’s and Senators today in Leinster House on the “Future of Smaller nursing homes in our communities right across Ireland”
We were delighted with the overwhelming support given by all Attendee’s
An equal cost of care model for is required for all residents in nursing home care.
Otherwise we will face many more closures of small family nursing homes and the displacement of residents to larger urban based facilities away from family and friends.
We will continue to fight for our residents and staff.
The Government needs to implement emergency counter-stabilising measures now to stop further closures.
We had an interview afterwards with Barry Lenihan RTE after presenting in Leinster House for TD’s and Senators on the issues that affect our small Nursing Homes.
